Douglas Foam Summit Mattress - 1 month in - does it get less firm?

6'1, 260lbs

Solo sleeper.

I'm just shy of a month sleeping on my Foam Summit (Queen) and I have be completely honest - this mattress is just way too firm. I have no idea how people review this mattress positively, even those who enjoy a firmer sleep.

I've traveled a ton in my adult life, slept on so many hotel mattresses, and I can honestly say this is the firmest mattress I've encountered. I feel totally misled by the reviews which said this is a good middle ground.

I'm curious for those who have this mattress - does it soften up much more beyond the 1 month? I'm thinking of returning it but would obviously love to skip the headache.

The best advice I can offer the fans of Storror, as someone who went through this before.

Casual Storror fan here, hoping to transfer some wisdom I learned through watching another influencer I really enjoyed watching go through a similar crumble.

tl;dr is they will keep disappointing you.

I was formerly a pretty big fan of Cody Ko, his podcast/music via TMG, and all his other stuff. Long story short for those outside the community, some underage SA allegations came out about him and Tana Mongeau (he was 26, she was 16/17), along with the fact his closest friend was found guilty of rape in their college frat who he still hangs/invited to his wedding, etc.

The biggest lesson I learned through that was any hope I had of him coming out and doing the right thing, admitting fault, expressing a more sincere and developed apology - it never happened. He took a year off, muttered some weird non-apology at the end of a jogging vlog when he came back, and is continuing on as though none of it happened.

I'd bet one Michael Bay documentary that is exactly what we'll see here.

The Cave brothers will keep denying any knowledge of all this and revive the channel in 6 months - we'll almost certainly never hear the names Josh and Callum ever again. Toby will likely be ex-communicated but keep doing his own thing, never speaking of this again. Drew is probably praising the lucky stars he exited when he did so he can pretend to be less tied to all of this.

These dudes all just suck - that's the lesson here. You can make up excuses, believe some version of the truth where Max and Benj had no idea, etc - but it's all lies IMO.

So IDK - I guess my advice I learned from the whole Cody Ko thing is to just move on rather than keep hoping something redeeming happens. I've learned a lot about the whole parasocial relationship thing via all this, and I'm just a big fan of touching grass these days.
