TerraMaster D4-320 Review

TerraMaster D4-320 Review

I was previously using a WD PR4100 that was 8 years old to manage my home Plex server and started to have issues with drives. I have SMART errors on a couple of drive that I will need to swap out. My WD80EFAX drives aren’t compatible to RAID with the newer WD Red Plus drives. I researched all over to find a JBOD (just a bunch of discs) DAS (direct attached storage) device to work with my Unraid server. I have this installed on a Dell Optiplex Micro over USB-C 3.2 gen2 to get 20Gbps 10Gbps. The TerraMaster D4-320 allows me to run the DAS without a RAID, Unraid handles the main drives and parity drive, for more functionality and future expansion. As my drives fail, I can swap them out for any drive really and maintain full functionality.

After purchasing the D4-320 DAS from the official TerraMaster website, I completed an official customer survey about why I chose the DAS and ended up winning a WD Red Plus 10TB HDD, shown in the picture. Thank you TerraMaster.
