Am I misunderstanding what indexers do?

I signed up for the free trial of <indexer> (I'm not here to name and shame, but to understand the product) and have found zero things I know to exist from my news provider's built-in search. Hard to be specific without running afoul of rules, but typographic resources are not surfaced, adult material by a treechopper similarly, whose work is ALL over usenet. I did have some better luck with audio files, but only slightly.

I also did not find the logical and/or operators that I had expected from a site specializing in search.

So This one indexer is neither complete, comprehensive, or precise. And this is among the very most recommended indexers.

Is this how I am supposed to use the indexer?
