Daimon Masaru [Digimon Savers Anime] vs. Garou [One-Punch Man Manga]

Post-Epilogue Masaru, no Agumon. Garou is allowed to reach all of his forms at his own discretion throughout the fight. How does Garou fare against a different one-punching hero?

Shoutmon X7: Superior Mode [Composite] vs. Diablomon X [Composite]

Rules & Premise:

All-out war between Xros Heart and Diablomon X, meaning that factors such as the Code Crown, Xros Code, and Xros Loader can influence the final result.

Both parties get scaling from every media they've appeared in. Shoutmon X7: Superior Mode is treated as the DigiXros of "all" Digimon, like in the anime.

Diablomon X does not have access to the Demon Lords, so it cannot become Ogudomon X.

Who wins & what diff?

Adventure Time: Side Quests Episode Rankings + Mini-Review [Minimal Spoilers]

Side Quests is here, and while I was initially hyped for the show, my anticipation died down when I found myself severely disappointed by the second season of Fionna & Cake to the point that I considered dropping the series entirely. I remained cautiously optimistic that Side Quests wouldn't be as disappointing, and while I am ultimately disappointed by the show, there's still more praiseworthy aspects compared to Fionna & Cake's second season.

The art style of the show initially felt abhorrent, however, it has moments of being almost as beautiful as the original show, albeit in a different way. Unfortunately, the majority of the show is visually uninteresting, lacking the surreal, sprawling feeling of its predecessor, in favor of simplified, painted environments and outline-free character models reminiscent of the infamous "corporate" art style. I did like the dynamic animation and exaggerated expressions akin to the very early stuff from the original show, though. "The Candy Spirit" is an awesome episode in terms of environmental design and action sequences.

Finn's new VA is fine. Not much to say about them. The speech patterns of Jeremy Shada's Finn are largely absent, they have a different take on Finn's mannerisms that I don't dislike, but definitely don't prefer to the original performance. Of course, this is no flaw of the show, just an observation.

I was one of the people who fell for the "prequel" misinformation, so I became very confused by what appeared to be persistent continuity errors before I saw the issue cleared up. Still, there's frequent re-use of incidentals in a way that the original show never really did from my memory, and it makes the world feel smaller, like the writers are trying too hard to say "hey, remember this?" instead of making something truly fresh. In general, the writing is pretty basic, with the best jokes usually coming at the end of each episode, though there were some obnoxious uses of toilet humor that the original show used but didn't abuse. This show abuses it for eleven minutes straight in "Let It Roll."

I found most episodes simply underwhelming. Visually, comedically, anything-else-ally, a lot of the show's content is on par with the weakest episodes its father series had to offer. Episodes like "Dandy Bug" and "Smell Detective" are just pure nonsense without any of Adventure Time's signature cleverness, borderline devoid of personality and feeling closer to a generic children's show. Despite this, the show finds powerful footing with episodes like the aformentioned Candy Ragnarok episode, "Son of the Goblin Queen," and "Re-Run Dungeon," the last being my personal favorite for its closeness to the original show's feel and fun action sequences.

Ultimately, the most important thing about Side Quests is that it is not a prequel. It's just a show that exists. Given the many retcons that would need to be made in favor of it, it seems likely to be that it's a reboot. Not a hard one or a soft one, just a reboot, and Adam Muto speculated that it would eventually exist. It's not my Adventure Time, and I disliked most of it, but that's okay. It's another generation's Adventure Time, and I hope they enjoy it as much as I enjoyed the original show.

Digimon Savers [Anime + OVA] Experimental Tier List

Not gonna leave a wall of text, but I can provide reasonings for placements if asked. Let me know if I made any errors or missed anyone. What do you think?

Notes:

- Tohma and Ikuto have no BoS/MoS/EoS key since they don't really do anything to show how strong they might've gotten over time, unlike Masaru and Yoshino.

- Digimon do not have keys other than their evolutions, for example, Agumon's placement on the list represents him as he is in the Burst Mode OVA (his last appearance). This is due to me being lazy.

- Pre-DS Masaru is Masaru from the first few episodes, before he gets used to using Digisoul. BoS Masaru is Masaru as he is deep into the MOTW shenanigans, basically pre-Rize Greymon.
