Sleeping arrangements

Incredibly, my dalmatian girl sometimes allows me to sleep in the bed! What about you?

Truth about AI editors

Well, I've finally succumbed to the relentless hype and decided to try out some of the here most mentioned AI editing services.

Just to clarify - I don't actually do realestate photography, I shoot architecture and interior design, I shoot big public buildings and similar large-scale projects. Think city squares, transportation hubs, designer apartments, modern offices etc.

That said, the editing techniques overlap enough that I think I can still be objective about AI editors.

So, I've taken a set of 180 bracketed, unedited images from a recent project, shot on a 100 mpix medium format camera with a tilt-shift lens and uploaded it to see what the AI editors will do.

And honestly - from my perspective at least - every single one sucks.

I don't think many understand (or maybe care) but the images that come out of these services are not photos at all. There is zero of your original pixels included. None. Zero.

What you actually get is an re-interpretation of your photo, a 100% generated image that is simply "based" on your original photo.

Every single detail is generated, re-drawn, recreated.

Basically, these AI bots are not editing anything, cause they are *not* AI editors. They are only using your photos as a template and then filling up all of the textures, materials, window views, tiles, floors etc. with replacement items from the vast databases they were trained on. Think of it like a coloring book.

At a first glance they look impressive. The walls are wite, the colors balanced and window pulls look top notch - but the second you zoom in, the illusion falls apart. Everything has that fake AI look and you notice it immediately - the textures are wrong, the letters on books end up being hallucinated and the skies are all toxic-blue.

Is this important? Well, to me it absolutely is. My clients want the authentic materials, colors and textures and I would be embarrassed delivering these ai results. Also, I can do better.

Now, I do see these being probably acceptable for lower end realestate market segment. Mid or god forbid high-end - absolutely not.

They are convenient and fast turnaround must be apealing to those who do REP at scale, but other than that? I really don't think so.

I would suggest you try them out with your own images before blindly jumping on the ai band waggon.

Did you know? Dalmatians in Dalmatia get special treatment!

Seriously, when you show up with one in their homeland, the locals will sometimes allow you to even seat them at the table!

Ours is extremely well behaved and has excellent table manners!

She will beg for food the whole time, but in a polite and silent manner, only occasionally tapping my leg and pointing at the food 🤣

She really wanted that lemon...
