AppleCare on a used Ultra 2?

AppleCare on a used Ultra 2?

I bought my U2 used on eBay. I figured as I wasn’t the original owner, the warranty was gone for me. Now, my phone has alerted me that my watch warranty expires in 11 days. It suggests, lol, AppleCare+ with theft and loss. Given all that…

  1. Do I still have access to the original warranty?
  2. If I don’t, would signing up for it give me coverage? (A loophole?)
  3. There seem to be a lot of warranty claims discussed here; is the Ultra a relatively reliable product?

I had my Series 7 forever, so I’ve assumed they were pretty solid. I’m very familiar w/ Mac reliability as I do claims with Apple for Macs regularly; in general they’re excellent, certainly better than our Dell’s anyway.

The reasons I decided to splurge on the U2 were the O2 sensor, battery life, and how incredibly tough all the reviews showed the Ultra series to be. I see no real reason to get a 3 or the 4 when it’s released, even if battery life doubles, I’m getting nearly 3 days right now on a watch that says it’ll do 36hrs.

Note: that’s the cheapest feeling band I’ve ever gotten, part of a 10-pack for $22. I recently confessed my band-buying addiction to a friend, she shared her phone case addiction with me to make me feel less shame. Thanks for all thoughts on the warranty question.

Did you guys know it takes 2 hours to charge an electric vehicle?

“Jim Klot, who has been an Uber driver for 11 years, said during a hearing with the state’s Department of Public Utilities on Monday that electrical vehicle charging stations typically have long lines, with up to three-hour waiting periods. That’s on top of the two hours it usually takes to charge an electric vehicle.”

Uh-huh. Sure. 👍

2025-26 XRT Owners, what do I need to know about the car?

In the 3rd curveball in my search for a new Ioniq 5, my wife has decided the XRT is the car for her, um, I mean us.

I have to admit, the pixel camo cladding, the mostly-a-Limited trim options, the aspirational red tow hooks, and definitely the wheels really are cool. I think I have a real need to own unique cars, and as Ioniq 5's go, it's the uniquest. So we're looking for one.

I'm hoping they sit on dealer lots longer than other Ioniq 5's, are costing dealers money, and I can get a better deal on one. I had a dealer in Conshohocken tell me to jump on the red Limited with grey interior my dealer is getting in this week because they can't keep any Ioniq 5's in stock right now, and its's been that way for over a month. I wonder why that would be? hmmm? We've had two Limited's bought out from underneath us, which is how my wife got involved in the search and set us on this XRT quest. I only want black interior and AWD, so looking is easier that's for sure.

What else should we know about the car? Has anyone swapped out the tires to something more EV friendly and seen mileage gains? Or is the front fascia just too clunky to hope for that? We're happy it doesn't have HUD or digital rear view, but not happy that it's lacking seat memory and vented seats.

Now, the most important questions, what color to get? We've found a cyber grey, white, red, and cosmic blue and can't decide which to pick up. What's a good real-world number to shoot for? Any and all insights about this trim level are welcome.
