Hi everyone,

I’m looking for advice on job seeking in the media industry.

A bit about me: I have 3 years of experience as a picture editor at a national-level newspaper in my home country (100k+ daily print editions in the capital, and millions of online views daily). I have a degree in journalism and also studied documentary photography.

I moved to the UK on a talent visa, so I don’t need visa sponsorship. For the past 1.5 years, I’ve been working as a studio coordinator at a sewing company, managing production, inventory, delivery notes, invoices, and emails, working closely with some of the biggest fashion brands in the world. I feel this gives me a strong skill set.

I want to get back into news media or other media companies, but I haven’t even landed a single interview in two years of searching. I’m also looking at roles like creative producer, visual producer, or digital assets manager, but haven’t had luck there either. I’ve polished my CV multiple times, read countless articles, threads, and watched hundreds of videos on job searching, but nothing seems to change.

I understand the UK market isn’t at its best right now, but it can’t be that bad, so I’m thinking maybe I’m missing something.

I’d really appreciate any advice, feedback on my CV, or even connections in the industry that could help me land a position.
