5 days in Monterrey first time visiting
My 19 year old son and I visited for 5 days from Wisconsin ending with seeing Netherlands v Morocco (No Era Penal!). We stayed at the Crowne Plaza near the Macroplaza. Impressive lobby/bar area. Great a/c in the room.
Absolutely loved the city. Lots of unique architecture. Food delicious and inexpensive. I will miss Tacos de Arrechera and Chilaquiles.
The people were all very friendly and helpful. For a big city it was clean and we never felt unsafe anywhere we went.
Rented a car for a day to get to La Huasteca and drove to Cola de Caballo in Santiago. I was warned driving would be an adventure but from my perspective no different than driving in any other big city.
Estadio BBVA - lived up to the hype. Amazing stadium and it helped the match was great.
Not sure if Monterrey is interested in getting more tourism but I’m surprised the city isn’t marketed more to Americans. It’s pretty easy to get to and a great option for a long weekend.
Anyhow I think you should all be very proud of Monterrey it is a very special city.
