Updating Economics?
Capitalists,
I was watching this very long economics lecture... but something came up in my mind and I started to suddenly wonder.
When looking at socialist economics, I observe capitalists are comfortable to point out maybe they have some assumptions that aren't perfect. Maybe Marxian LTV was an assumption, and building off of that has flaws. Ok.
However, when we look at mainstream economics, and seeing that there are many types of capitalists on the sub, ancapitalists, liberals, etc. , do you see any assumptions in economics that you possibly feel are either mistaken, outdated, or could use an update? I asked this also because I saw it as an opportunity to get to know your flair more specifically for example.
If you are struggling to understand what I mean, it's that if capitalists can look at socialists and say "LTV was a mistaken assumption".. Could we look at mainstream economics and see anything wrong too? I think if we do this honestly it could lead to a more precise discussion.
For me the monopoly on violence and assuming everyone is perfectly rational seems like it was used because it was hard to think of what is better, not because it is the literal best. Science always evolves so I figure that includes economics. It's 2026, do you see anything that could be updated?
