Zone 9/9a I believe. I need a hedge to block my neighbour. Let’s just call him Rick with a D. His yard is above mine. I have a fence, however since its on my side, there is at least 2-3 feet of a terrace for lack of better description that
His property is on. He literally looks down on me.
My idea is to add possibly 4ft planter boxes, more like adding a whole terraced shelf to put the hedges in to give them a head start. Cedar? Green giant? What’s my best go to. I have a big yard but it’s pretty rocky, you hit rock almost everywhere at about 1-2 inches down. Hence the planter box idea.
I really wanted pacific wax Myrtle but it has been impossible to find. I’d prefer native plants I have thought of Oregon grape. Bonus if these ones are that they are drought resistant.
Thoughts?

Anyone know how to get one? Other than printing my own. I tried Etsy, there was a really nice one. In the US, doesn’t ship to Canada probably because the tariffs make it not worth it.
