Perfect week for it! Ended up being used as a birthday cake and everyone loved it. The recipe called for more buttercream on top, but I decided that the german chocolate and ganache were the perfect amount of sweet. Delish!
They taste alright, but the tops sunk in and they're just not quite right.
Made with orange zest, which was such a delicious decision. Enjoyed a few and packed up the rest and sent them on a cross country trip for a special little dude's birthday surprise.
Subbed the sugar in the biscuit recipe for monkfruit, cut the sugar used to bring out the juice in the berries from half cup to 1 tablespoon- still completely effective- and used a very low sugar recipe for the homemade chantilly cream, 1 tablespoon for the whole recipe. I added freeze dried strawberry powder to the biscuit dough, too, for color. It was delicious, but made the dough a little more sticky. All around, it was very tasty!
