I'll preface this by saying I am not an android user, just helping someone out. There's an m365 mail account on the native mail app on his phone that was working fine until yesterday, when it started asking for password and wouldn't accept the confirmed correct email password. removing account and adding again (choosing type exchange) gives the same password error, but says "or switch to modern auth below" but the only button available is "set up using a certificate"

nothing unusual about the m365 account, just normal credentials and MFA. he's able to log into the account on computer without issue.

We've rebooted the phone, and it appears to be updated. We are able to out into the account using the Outlook app on the phone.

any suggestions?
