Climbed to Silver 4 as support Neeko: This is what I learned
I don't play video games. League is my first moba. I play on my 12 inch macbook (at first with just a trackpad, yikes!). I stuck to the support role to play with friends on occasion but had zero game sense. I didn't know I had wards, what cooldowns where, much less what the other champions did. I basically was a team cheerleader girlfriend but did not have much fun staring at a gray screen all game.
After a few ARAMs, I learned I liked the champ Neeko and I was interested in trying the rift. For once, my combos felt intuitive to hit. I didn't really understand a lot going on around me but I knew I could turn into a minion and this opened up my world. I learned how to get deep vision, claim bush control to fool my enemies, and finally got the courage to use ignite instead of heal because I was actually killing my enemies in laning phase.
I feel very fortunate that of all the sweaty league content, Doglightning plays neeko as support and I found a friendly face to learn league from. Neeko forced me to change my keybinds so that it would be easy for me to shapeshift but also level up, ping easier, or make a clone dance (i love briar's dance but also naafarri's dogs digging in the ground its so cute!). Over time it became intuitive to use my items like rocketbelt or to dive under the turret to get kills no one else could. I planned my roam timers around minion waves and the game became a lot clearer to me once when I should fight and why.
The champ I liked because it gave me movement speed to run away became the champ I hit 5 man ults and secure objectives. I'm really happy I chose a champ that has such a unique kit! Definitely a weird way to learn league but I enjoyed the learning process.
As an update to my last post, I plan to get Cosplayer Neeko because I think she's adorable!
all the love,
