My Kuya wants to shift out of Civil engineering because he struggles with math.

My kuya, who took ABM strand during SHS, is currently a first-year Civil Engineering student. From the start, he has never really been confident in Math. He has been attending orientations at his university, and some professors have already started teaching concepts. My concern is that he is already thinking about shifting courses because he finds the concepts difficult to understand (like algebra). He feels that if he does not understand the basics, he will struggle even more with the harder topics later on. I advised him to get tutoring for the basic knowledge he needs, but are there any other pieces of advice I can give him?
