Alton Brown podcast

Alton mentioned in one of his YouTube episodes a food history podcast he has in the works. I think he mentioned it will be called Past Eats (great name!). I can't find any other mention of it, anyone heard or know of anything more?

What do managers gain from being jerks?

I see all sorts of bad manager stories in this sub. I don't doubt them, but can't comprehend why. Managing people in the public service is different to private, there is no equity or bonuses at stake, (in my experience) KPIs do not measure how oppressively you operate your team. What's at personal stake for a bad manager to treat people like shit? If it meets the requirement of the EA, then why not let your people WFH if they want, or take leave, or pick up kids early, etc, etc. I hate to say it, but no one person's job matters that much!

For context, I've been in and out of the APS in a niche technical field, held all levels from APS5 to EL2. I've had a good run with my own managers and like to think I've been a good manager to my teams.
