Hyperthyroidism and problems seeing things up close. Blurry vision.

I have been unwell for almost 2 months now.

My endocrinologist has diagnosed me with subacute thyroiditis and told me it would be about 8 months to recover. Im in the hyperthyroidism phase right now.

I have noticed that I cannot focus on things up close. Everything at 20cm/8 inches or closer becomes blurry.

The last week, I noticed I've had issues reading small print. I've never had these issues before.

I couldn't read the back of a varnish tin. If I hold it out, its clear but the print is to small to read. I bring it closer and everything is blurry and so i still cant read it.

Is this related to hyperthyroidism?

How I got here: I was very stressed all March at work. This led to stress in my relationship which ended by the end of March. Start of April, I wake up with a gum abcess. I get put onto 2 types on antibiotics for 10 days by the dentist. That clears up, but then around day 8 of antibiotics, I get a sore throat. I feel feverish and generally run down.

After 2 weeks I still have the sore throat. I go to my regular doctor. He says its mild and confirmed I have a low fever. He told me to get a covid test from the chemist. Got a script for some more antibiotics in case it's bacterial, but he said if its viral it won't do anything and it's up to me if I want to take them. I don’t take them.

At three weeks of having a sore throat, I go to an online doctor. He runs a whole bunch of labs.

1st May

TSH .02

FT4 38.3

FT3 9.8

S CRP 32

Lymphocytes 0.7 -low

I have since found a new doctor near me. They looked at the May 1st results and ordered more.

5th May

TSH .01

FT4 48.3

FT3 11.9

TPO 22

TgAb 19

S CRP 8

Lymphocytes 1.1 -normal

I've been referred to an endocrinologist. I see them this Tuesday. I'm pretty worried. Im not really sure what to expect or what to ask. I've been dealing with a lot and have been hit with mental stress from my work and my ex. I've had a bacterial and viral infection as well.

What is important to ask at the appointment?

Also, could it be that I've taken such a stressful hit that this could be just temporary?

I would appreciate any advice or information. I'm dealing with this by myself and I don't have a support system.

For now, I have adjusted my diet to no gluten, no dairy or coffee or sugar and im focusing on getting better sleep. Im taking magnesium, zinc, vit c and also an active b complex. Oh and d3 with k2.
