just finished s17: Garo was ahead of the curve

I just thought it was a little funny that the judges felt Garo was too “costumey” in part bc of the corsets, and now these last 2 years corsets have made a huge comeback. Of course corsets were semi-in at the time, but that style was way more niche when he was doing it on that season and now its so back and he seems to stay booked and busy 💅

How can I make this make sense?

On this planet, the native people were all but g-cided, the children and some of the women were taken back to the dominating planet, but as far as MC and others know, everyone was killed in the war, but I do think it would be effective for a separate storytelling moment to have a group that did survive the war, but they are on a different part of the planet and would have been a different "tribe" of people even before the war. If I go that path, I want to hold off the reveal of this group until book 2, but how can I make this groups existence make sense? How can they have survived the war, and for all these years (56 since the war) have not encountered the colonists, but all of a sudden they show up on this area of the planet to help/die? Maybe this idea needs to be cut, or can someone make sense of it? Honestly at the moment the only reason I want to include this group is one: it doesn't make a whole lot of sense that the entire planets population lived in one large area, and was wiped out, and two: MC will be an Eren Yager type and end up destroying the planet and killing the majority of the people on it, I think it would be more impactful if there were native peoples she could have connected to but instead she took their choice from them and destroyed everything... Anyway, all suggestions and tips are welcome!!

How to make an effective timeline?

Hi all! I'm working on a sci-fi/fantasy duology and I'm running into all sorts of brainstorming problems at the moment 😞 In terms of the timeline, I have the story taking place 48 years after the establishment of a school where the rebellion will take place, but I'm trying to have this group of rebels established long before the MC shows up. 48 years seems like a very very long time to be building up a rebellion group and still not have much to show for it. The members of this school rotate out and to the dominating planet about every 3-4 years, so MAYBE that could explain why this rebellion has had no real progress? Or do I just need to shorten the timeline dramatically and have the rebellion festering for like 5-10 years? There aren't very many people at this school at one time (that's another brainstorming issue I haven't solved; how many girls will actually be at the school at one time) and they are being watched over by both soldiers and "teachers" with limited access to anything that could give them the upper hand until MC shows up (also potentially cheesy?) but, how long is an effective and realistic timeline for a rebellion to be stewing before it acts?
