I was talking to some deaf customers today and I struggled with this sign specifically in the conversation. I did ask them if they could finger spell the sign to me but I missed it too and they left. I was hoping I could get some help! I don’t think this sign specifically would be regional but I am from Michigan if that helps.

Bear with me here, I’m not entirely sure on the details I remembered.
The first episode was about this younger boy who really looked up to this monster(?) hunting team, more specifically the leader. The leader has similar characteristics of the boys and I’m almost positive it’s implied they may be secretly brothers. Well the monster hunting team goes off on a mission, and I think the little boy follows them. On their mission, the boy distracts them and leads to the entire team dying. The boy vows he’s going to be a hero like the leader and the episode time skips to him older, trying to be a monster hunter.
Does anyone know the name of this anime??
