dress second thoughts after venue change

I am having some doubts/second thoughts about the dress I ordered after we had to change venues last month. The original venue for our wedding in May, 2027 was a beautiful, old-world monastery with a stunning garden, and the ceremony was going to be outdoors. I bought a gorgeous and massive Ines Di Santo ballgown (the Claire de Lune) to fit that space back in May. (Dress 1)

It turned out the venue was too small, and we had to switch to a very different vibe to accommodate our guest count. The new space is a warehouse - very upscale but industrial chic. It’s also central city/downtown, and we will be doing our ceremony indoors. We are softening up the space with a lot of Italian themes and touches (think lemon trees everywhere and lots of yellows, oranges, and blues), so I want my dress to reflect some of that theme as well.

Obviously this is a huge shift in the aesthetic for the day, and I’m having real doubts/second thoughts about the dress I ordered and was originally so excited about. I went and tried on other dresses yesterday to try to clarify things in my head, and found two I adored with very different style than the original. I feel very torn - I think the original dress still works, but I’m not nearly as excited about it as I was. In my heart I’m really worried I might want something that reflects a more chic/city vibe. The original dress was very pricey ($17K) so it would be a huge hit to redirect even if I try to resell, but I also want to be happy. Ahhhhhh. I can’t tell if I’m in my head too much about this!!

What do you all think?? Dress 1 (original), 2, or 3???

any tips on getting attention of the band/a manager?

I'm getting married next year, and my soon-to-be husband played and sang me Carin at the Liquor Store the first night he brought me back to his house. The National has been our constant soundtrack and will be more than one dance at our wedding. I'm trying to organize a wedding gift for him, and it's a bit of a pipe dream but a signed & dedicated copy of Sleep Well Beast from Matt/the band would be such an incredible gift. I've never tried to reach out to a band like this before, does anyone have any tips on the best way to get in touch with someone about this? Is it messaging the band directly on Instagram? DMs are also open if anyone has recommendations they'd like to send directly!

$36 per serving for cake???

Just got a quote for a wedding cake in the DMV area and it came in at $36 per slice... more than $7000 for a cake for 200 people. I feel a bit shocked by this pricing. Our design concept includes different designs for each layer, but isn't super complicated... stripes for one or two layers plus some basic florals/buttercream. I was anticipating something in the $10-15 per slice range. What are folks paying for cakes these days in VHCOL areas? Am I totally off-base???

I'm getting quotes from a few other bakers, but just need a gut check on whether this is as out-of-range as I think it is.

what’s missing from this bridesmaid proposal box?

working on packing up boxes for my bridesmaids, many of whom live out of town. i wanted to nod to our wildflower theme and include a few small items they would actually use/enjoy - a custom frosted glass tumbler, a pair of earrings, some sugarfina candies, a small flower candle, a dried posey for aesthetics, and a thoughtful note for each of them. but laying this out, i feel like something is missing. any thoughts??

i’m going to do a proper gift at the actual wedding, likely jewelry.
