how important is large animal experience for OVC DVM apps?

hey everyone!! i have an abundance of small animal experience in multiple branches of vet med i.e outreach, specialty, emergency, general practice (thousands of hours) and I wanted to ask how important is it that i have diversity in the species aspect?

i live in a big city and don’t own a vehicle, there aren’t any ranches/farms/large animal vets in the city and I don’t think it will be possible for me to get exposure. I’m also relatively low income so renting a car regularly or ubering long distance isn’t feasible.

any thoughts on this? any current vet students that got in without large animal experience?

thank you!!!

wait listed with 91 available seats?

Hopefully someone here can help because the faculty admin hasn’t been very clear.
I received special approval (a prerequisite waiver) to take HSS3101 and was added to the waitlist. My assumption is that students who need the course for their program sequence are being given priority, which is why I wasn’t enrolled directly.

Right now there are 91 seats still available, but I’m currently #1 on the waitlist. I’ve actually never been waitlisted before, so I’m not really sure how the process works, especially in a situation like this where there are still so many open seats.
When I asked the faculty, this was their response:
“Please note that being on the waitlist does not guarantee a seat in the course. Waitlists are reviewed until the enrollment deadline. After the enrollment deadline, all waitlists are removed, and if a seat has not become available, you will not be enrolled in the course.”

Has anyone been in a similar situation before?
Should I still attend the lectures before the enrollment deadline just in case? Also, what exactly do they mean by “waitlists are reviewed until the enrollment deadline”? Does that mean it’s likely I’ll be enrolled eventually, especially since there are still 91 seats available?

Thanks in advance for any guidance!
