AstroSoc O-Day!!

Wouldn't it be nice if UNSW had an astronomy and stargazing society??

For those who had seen the previous AstroSoc post I made on r/UNSW in here that I literally made at 1am, wouldn't it be great if it became official? What happened to the idea?

WELL GUYS, AstroSoc is FINALLY OFFICIALLY HERE

WE HAVE BEEN OFFICIALLY RECOGNISED BY ARC AND ACQUIRED an O-Day stall this monday!!!

This is the first time a UNSW society was first started SOLELY on reddit (yes guys! r/unsw is THAT powerful) anddd if you are part of that reddit OG who saw that first post (or even just a regular r/unsw lurker like me lol, this subreddit is genuinely the best part of UNSW and i read this subreddit everyday lmao), PLEASE DO come around and say hii!!! And tell us you're from reddit!! (although I wouldn't announce it for everyone to hear that proudly lol)

WE ARE GOING TO BE HOSTING FUTURE STARGAZING EVENTS AND COLLABS WITH OTHER SOCIETIES + ACCESS TO BIGGER AND BETTER TELESCOPES.
Think about that. Big trips into rural areas. Campfires. Music. That milky way galaxy above your head with the chill vibes in the air. That one guy tweaking the telescopes.

Hope to see you guys there on O day!! Our stall is L28!! And YES, r/UNSW is a wayyyy better uni subreddit compared to other uni subreddits 😃

What's wrong with UNSW commerce (finance major)?

I'm 1st yr, mechanical engineering+ commerce (finance)

My friends says it's a useless degree and it's classes are easy af. What if I'm majoring in finance? Heard that finance is the most mainstream yet has the most ROI in terms of job market and salary? (Looking into either IB, PE or wealth management)

How's the job market for FINANCE students here in Australia?

I'm pretty participative in UNSW's extra curricular stuff and I'm a president, finance director, volunteering in multiple arc roles (bikeology, tax help) and I'm currently first year doing this. Obviously getting an internship is crucial for finance students and I'm hoping to get there thru nepotism and connections instead of "resume & LinkedIn maxxing" although I'll need to do it anyways in the future. Plan? Participate in MOST UNSW activities (yes, I mean any, I literally join a dating show because I'm paying like $67,000 for 5.7yrs under HECS) and having the time of my life while making meaningful connections (whatchu mean having a bond over a shitty ahh racist dating show is not a real connection 😡😡)

Do people think commerce is a shit degree because of its principle of gouging consumers? Or the oversaturation of the finance market? Or the easy ass courses?

I would love to hear about the job market and this oversaturation that people talk about, please link to your experiences as a finance graduate or a reliable news article pointing out that FINANCE graduates are going to shit andnits SPECIFICALLY finance students that's going to shit wayy faster than OTHER DEGREES
