Just completed a 1200 mile (round trip) road trip in my 2025 N
And I want to share my experience.
Overall, fantastic - no notes!
...
JK. No complaints, actually. 10/10 would and will do again!
It was my first significant trip since leasing in March of last year. A friend and I drove from Atlanta, GA to Indianapolis, IN over the course of a long weekend. It was about 550 miles each way with a couple trips in and out of the city to meet up with friends and family.
My charging stops were in Dalton, GA (replaced by the obligatory Buc-ee's stop in Calhoun on the way home), Manchester, TN, Bowling Green, KY, Seymour, IN (replaced by a stop south of Louisville, KY on the return trip), and a bonus charge in Fishers, IN. I did not plug in at our destination, only used fast chargers and as many leftover Chargepoint credits as I could (took those over the L2 charger).
We left with an odometer around 5800, and it's currently sitting just shy of 7000. I had to replace a tire two weeks ago after hitting a pothole, but otherwise haven't taken it in for maintenance yet.
Overall, though, my first trip in an EV and I loved every minute. I didn't notice if the car was loud because of the larger tires, but damn, Indy is awful for potholes and it sure hurt once we got there.
On the drive up though, each leg was about 90 minutes to 2 hours which really made this trip feel faster than any other road trip of similar length (I'd made this trip twice previously in ICE cars). The breaks were perfectly timed for bathroom breaks or the need to stand up and stretch. The forced breaks were really appreciated and I didn't feel annoyed by them at all. I think at each stop, we had enough time to walk over to the nearest bathroom and back before we were at nearly 80%, then we chatted outside for a few minutes before it was time to wrap up and hit the road again. On average, maybe 16 minutes per stop. The only exceptions were having lunch at the Stingray Grill (National Corvette Museum, lol) in KY up and back, and the hotel the car navigated to in Seymour on the way up (we just stood up for a minute, sat back down for the remaining ~12 since it was our last stop before reaching our destination).
OH, YEAH. I USED THE IN-CAR NAVIGATION FOR EVERYTHING*
(*I used the app to set the address and selected 150-350 kW + everything except Tesla chargers because I didn't want to deal with the adapter.)
Granted, I'm a planner, and I for sure used ABetterRoutePlanner to see my route ahead of time, but I literally plugged in our destination address* and it automatically selected every single stop ABRP chose along the way. I couldn't have asked for a more seamless experience! The only exception was forcing it to stop at Buc-ee's on the way home, which brought me down to, like, 10% battery instead of my preferred 15-20%.
Overall, 10/10 would recommend. It was a lot of fun. I will probably be swapping to a Limited at the end of my lease, but this car is awesome!
And now that the trip is done, gonna jinx myself and put out into the universe: 7k miles and no ICCU issue. *flips birds*
Feel free to ask any clarifiers if you've got 'em.
