Looking for more games with LATLE-like visual language
I've seen a lot of games recommended for people who enjoyed LATLE, but most of the time, the recs focus more on games with similar puzzles and mechanics. While I do love both those things about LATLE, I'm also curious to find more games with a similar narrative and visual style.
I came at the game from a film studies background, and one of the things I found most rewarding about LATLE was being able to pore over symbolism, patterns, colours, shot compositions, motifs, etc. the same way you would when close reading a film. I thought the game's visual language was so strong, purposeful, and consistent throughout that it really enhanced the already great story being told.
What are some other games you can think of that 1) are good for this type of visual analysis, 2) have a similarly cerebral and engaging story, and 3) aren't too action-heavy? (I'm terrible at just about any game with real-time combat or that requires fast, precise movement.)
Other games I've played in this vein include:
- Slay the Princess
- Blue Prince
- The Beginner's Guide
- The Bag of Milk games
- We Know the Devil
- Pony Island and The Hex (Inscryption is next in the queue!)
- The Witness (wasn't my cup of tea but does fit the description)
- No I'm Not a Human
Games that might fit that are on my radar already:
- Kentucky Route Zero
- What Remains of Edith Finch
- Immortality
- Scarlet Hollow
- Hypnospace Outlaw
- Other Simogo games like Year Walk and Device 6, I'm guessing
