I am planning to spend my summer vacation in Brazil, and this is my first time visiting Brazil.
I am going to travel with my colleague who speaks Portuguese, so language wouldn't be a problem.
But I am not sure where to start. Brazil is huge and there are so many places that all look worth visiting. I am mainly looking for a place with a good social scene where I can meet people, enjoy the local culture, try amazing food, and experience some nightlife.
Which city would city would you recommend for a first-time visitor?

Any tips or things I should know before I go?
