r/TheRookie Show Hiatus 2026 - Announcement and Reminders

As The Rookie is on hiatus between Seasons 8 and 9, here's a couple of announcements and reminders as we keep discussion open while waiting for new episodes!

🔥 New Post Flairs!

  • Season 9 Flair is READY for you to use for Season 9 Predictions or wishlists or (eventually) Behind the Scenes photos! (Please search before posting to make sure someone hasn't already shared recently)
  • Rookie: Games - during the hiatus, we welcome reddit games. Please be mindful of Rule 1 & Rule 8 regarding etiquette (be respectful) and hate (Don't simply comment/post for the sake of hating on the Rookie and those involved). Any games deemed to be encouraging these rules to be broken will be removed. (Please note all games require a spoiler tag.)

👍 Before you post, and/or comment, please keep the following in mind:

  1. Use proper post flair⁠⁠⁠⁠⁠. If you're discussing an earlier season - but you reference something that happens in a later season - please use the flair of the latest season you are discussing, or have seen, to help users avoid spoilers. (For example, you're specifically discussing Episode 1x16, and mention Episode 4x1 - please use Season 4 flair)
  2. Do not include spoilers in the title of your post. Use ________ to "hide" certain character names. eg: Nolan's confrontation with _________
  3. ⁠⁠⁠⁠⁠⁠Any posts related to previous plot points across all seasons must be flagged as a spoiler. When in doubt, add a spoiler tag. If you remove the spoiler tag, your post is subject to removal.
  4. Spoiler highlight - when making comments please avoid spoilery comments beyond where OP has indicated they have watched/tagged. To hide spoilers in comments, > ! your spoiler here ! < (Simply remove all spaces between the special characters and end/start of paragraph). Please be kind to your fellow redditors and avoid/hide major spoilers from other TV Shows.
  5. ⁠⁠⁠⁠⁠⁠Duplicate Posts: To prevent feed oversaturation, we will remove duplicate posts. If there are two of the same post, the first valid post will remain. Please check the feed (Sort by New or "last week/month") before posting and respond on an existing thread.
  6. ⁠⁠⁠⁠⁠⁠We are a piracy free subreddit and request users not to request or post pirate links. Piracy violations will lead to bans. “Where can I watch/stream Season 8 in (—) Country?” posts and comments will be removed.
  7. ⁠⁠⁠⁠⁠⁠Please be sure you have reviewed the sub rules

RookieRewatch2026: Week 2

Hey r/TheRookie fam!

As Season 8 has concluded - we now face the long hiatus. (An expected 34 weeks without our beloved John Nolan and crew - though no official return date has been announced).

To help pass the time, I’m organizing another RookieRewtach! Here’s last years RookieRewatch2025

This year will be more low-key. Each “Rookie Day” (aka Monday), I’ll post a discussion thread and we can discuss where we’re at in our respective rewatches. Maybe you’re working your way all the way through! Maybe you just rewatched one of your favorite episodes for the hundredth time. Maybe you just want to live vicariously through others and simply comment on their thoughts about the episode(s) they watched. Whatever your reason - I hope you’ll join us! Super chill! Each week I personally plan to highlight a specific character.

Disclaimer/Spoiler Warning:
Because there are some countries where Season 8 has not yet aired, if discussion turns to major season 8 plot points I simply ask you to please be kind to your fellow Redditors and do a spoiler highlight.

That being said - for anyone who has not watched all of season 8 - please be warned there may be spoilers in the comments!

Very fitting considering they were one of the most frequent weekly winners, that the season culminated in their engagement and being THE ULTIMATE SEASON 8 MVPs!
