bodycams

Hey front end ta’s ! My store and many others are implementing body cameras for self-check/service desk, and absolutely nobody is okay with it. I’ve been applying for other jobs on my breaks, and honestly it’s just unnecessary. I was wondering 1. stores with this implemented already, how’s it going? Are other associates fine with this change? Do customers find you more off-putting than normal? And are people actually respecting the clock in/out of the cameras? Overall, i think it’s wasted funds and time. We are so heavily surveilled in the front, and the cameras are good enough to see wrinkles. In all reality, if i knew the cameras would eventually be integrated i would NOT HAVE APPLIED! Don’t get me wrong, The pay is decent. But i don’t think i get paid enough to look like a fed on the clock. This is walmart, we have AP, and a heavily monitored front end. In what world would we need associates to wear a camera on their chest? The real kicker for me is in the training videos, they instructed us NOT to turn on the camera in the event of an altercation/disagreement with a customer. Overall, i think it makes the environment more hostile/untrustworthy. People already don’t like us for doing our jobs, if i wear a body cam on my chest i’m sure it’s not going to be the best first impression. Thanks guys, i’d like to know other’s two cents on this issue.
