If you want to host a flawless Manhunt game on 1.20.4, check out Minigames Hub.

It handles all the heavy lifting,automatic tracking compasses (even through portals), game state management, and easy GUI menus to toggle settings,so you can just jump in and start running.

there is also a timed mode however its on beta,the timed mode makes it so that the worldborder gets set to a certain amount (configurable) and starts a timer, if the runner stays alive he wins.

Its everything a normal manhunt should have.
