To Gnu Gremlin or Not
Hey there. With some discounts I have available to me, it looks like I can get a (new condition) 25/26 Gnu Gremlin for around $250 USD. I’m looking for some input on whether or not I should pick it up.
For some reference points, I’m in New England and I had my first season this year with 11 days on the mountain. I’m 5’8, 180 lbs. I bought my Basic Boy™️ starter setup (25/26 Capita DOA 158 cm, Union Force bindings) and I’ve really enjoyed it. I understand trail ratings are far from the be-all measure of skill — but I was doing the double blacks at Killington fine, if that gives some sense of my ability/comfort on the mountain to this point.
I have a week-long trip to Palisades in February 2027 and it’s my understanding the DOA really isn’t suited for powder, so that’s why the Gremlin caught my eye. From what I’ve read, people love it for powder and I definitely want to hit all the bowls and other terrain that Palisades has to offer. There’s a 155 cm available and that seems to be the right size for me based upon convention.
Should I go ahead and pick it up? Am I getting too far ahead of myself here? I’d appreciate any thoughts, knowledge, or feedback. I guess I just want to make the most of my trip next year and I’ve pretty much been ‘in for a penny, in for a pound’ with this whole snowboarding thing. I would hate to get out there, not be properly equipped, and then spend the same amount of money (or more) for demo boards better suited for the powder than my DOA.
Thank you!
EDIT: I sent it on the 155. Super excited! Got it for $284 + shipping (not sure why I didn’t get the advertised free shipping, so I’ve emailed them). Thank you for all your help!
