For a shrapnel injury to limb with multiple penetrating wounds what is the best way to deal with it?

Is there any indication for packing a very narrow tract (<5mm) penetrating wound

(Wounds phase- irrigate, probe, pack any severe wounds, dress and bandage the rest.)
