I'm the workers' comp attorney who's represents USPS and federal employees for 20+ years, AMA about what happens when you get injured on the job
Hi, my name is attorney Brett Blumstein. I've been working with federal employees when they get injured on the job for over 20 years. I've seen it all. Although I work with all federal employees, more than half of my caseload are USPS employees.
Why do I work with so many USPS employees? For one thing, there are over 600,000 of you, that's a lot of potential injuries. Another reason is that USPS employees have jobs where you're more likely to get injured than other federal employees. Carry 30 lbs on your shoulder for decades? You're going to have an issue. Drive around in an LLV all day? You're may to get into car accidents. Step into people's yards? You're going to run into dogs. Stay indoors casing mail all day? Possible carpal tunnel.
I see the same categories of injuries with USPS employees over and over, though the details always differ. Sometimes you need to sue a third party, and sometimes the only remedy is workers' compensation (where federal rules are very different than state rules).
I enjoy helping USPS employees navigate the process. Please feel free to ask me any questions. As always, you can also reach me at www.federalesquire.com.
