Has anyone received this update on the Web? I just got a new UI update since yesterday. Every a set number of messages (I didn't count it, but probably ten messages), the bottom bar is blurred with a button that says "Watch ads to continue." Am I late to the party lol

For now, if I click the button, I only get the pop up to subscribe to c.ai+. I'm pretty lucky that my ads just consist of c.ai+ ads and nothing else (there were times when I saw a few of true ads, but they were repeated for a couple times and soon replaced by c.ai+ ads). This update adds an extra click to force me watching the ads, but honestly I prefer this update. At least, it doesn't pop out of nowhere and dim the whole page.

Does it annoy me? A little bit lol. But hey, I'm a free user, can't complain when they try to push their own product, especially when LLMs are getting more expensive everywhere. An extra click every a few minutes is a good compromise, I guess...

Since I discovered (from other post here, cheers!) that I can long-press the Send button to change bot's language, I've been playing with my native language to match with the local settings. I haven't tried it with other bots with newer models, I'm just continuing my active RP but switched the language. However, the bot's language seems to be all casual, including the narrative. I don't know how to describe it in English, but the bot constantly drops affixes (prefixes or suffixes) or uses totally colloquial verbs instead. Sometimes it also produces a totally nonsense sentence. I can't think of any good examples in English, unfortunately, so I can't give you an exact comparison. Think of using slangs and verbs you don't usually use for narratives, probably? I don't know how to write in sloppy English lol

An example in my language (Indonesian) is dropping the prefix "me-" to make a verb sounds casual. For example, "menggeser" (to shift) is formal, while "nggeser" is casual. Another style is to attach "-in" suffix: "menggoda" (to tease) -> "godain" (dropping "me-" prefix and adding "-in" suffix).

I suspect that the training data for my language is too focused on fanfictions, Wattpad, and social medias, where we usually use casual language heavily, instead of proper formal language found in literature. So, can I ask a question? *lol* Those who chat in your own native language, do you have this problem too? When the bot gives you a sloppy response, do you edit it or leave it as-is? Does constant editing eventually make the bot consistently stick to formal narrative style, or is it a losing battle due to the model’s training dataset? Will my writing be used to train their data, albeit it's just a tiny bit of training data, or should I just give up and play in English?

How often your RP coincides with IRL events? I have a few coincidences for several months (yes, this is a rewriting of the exact same post months ago at r/Characteraipositivity; I'm rewriting it for a more concise timeframe as I don't want to crosspost nor ETA that post; I don't know if I should ETA this post later if more coincidences occur or add them as comments, as I don't want to either necropost nor flood the post with my comments).

Last year (August 2025), I RP-ed with "Soap and Ghost" bot in a MW3 setting (I set it in 2125). We were on an intel mission in Indonesia, working with the police, to find out the culprits behind the civil unrest and multiple bomb threats so we can prevent riots. The next day after I wrote the plot... riots happened in IRL Indonesia across multiple cities for a few days, including my own hometown. I literally had to stop that RP because the coincidence was too upsetting (I was safe as I was abroad that time).

On another long-running RP with "Roach", on a scene I recalled sending Ghost a few years ago for a recon mission to Sabah, Malaysia, to track activities from Indonesian cult known as "The Clover" in English. No specified year this time. The day after I wrote that scene, I read a news that firefighters on Serawak, Malaysia were sent to extinguish a small fire incident on a house, and they discovered drawings of pentagram on the wall and floor, implying there was an occult activity. I was so upset I picked the wrong state lol (both of them are located in Borneo).

In the same RP, I introduced a new character to my rooster: a mutated fruit bat (flying fox) which I tamed. Fast forward a few months (RP time), I were planning a mission to Tibet Autonomous Region while bringing my bat, as he might be related to an ancient creature hidden in Mount Kailash. Unbeknownst to me, the Nipah virus outbreak happened in India at the time I was writing that scenario. I decided to include the outbreak in my RP.

As the mission came to an end, my team decided to have a spiritual journey on the Kora pilgrimage path at Mount Kailash. When that chapter was running, out of nowhere my IRL colleague told our group a story that her friend was at Tibet, very likely to be on a pilgrimage journey lol.

One major location of this RP was a national park named Lore Lindu National Park (LLNP for short), where I tamed the mutant bat and he became my soulmate (literally, as we shared a neural bond). That arc had been finished a few weeks ago, and the mission to LLNP was far behind the current arc. LLNP was picked at random (I consulted Gemini to pick me several potential locations in Indonesia, particularly on the Sulawesi Island) and it gave me LLNP. Fast forward to the current arc ( I was writing on it today), I Googled the name of national disaster management agency which I want to include in my RP. Lo and behold, the first video result was an Instagram reel from... LLNP official account. Apparently, a week ago (relative to this post) there was an earthquake of a medium magnitude around the region, and they are still working to manage the aftermath. Unfortunately, my current arc no longer includes LLNP, but probably I will save this coincidence as a potential event for my RP (already have a few ideas to include it back).

A few of the coincidences (especially the first one) sometimes give me creeps...
