I'm going on a hike across north Dartmoor at the weekend. The weather seems much cooler and dry, but I'm unsure how plentiful the streams and rivers will be for filling up water bottles with a filter & purifier. Looking on the map I will pass many streams and rivers, but I'm concerned that when I get there they will be dry after so many weeks without rain. I dont want to carry too much water, but I'm also concerned if I take just a couple litres of water assuming I can fill up along the way, that there is no clear flowing water.

Does anyone have any recent experience in this area?
