Why doesn't salt work for all evil things?

I've been thinking about this for a while, and the salt myths are a part of research I've done in the past.

The show takes inspiration from myths all across the world, saying that salt is a stone of purity, and nothing with malicious intents, or evil blood can cross it. If I remember correctly it was mentioned in the show at one point, I just can't remember what season.

Since it takes inspiration from those myths and is used in the show to trap demons/ghosts or keep them out of a certain area, it would make sense for that to be the go to protection from vampires, shape shifters, wendigos, etc.

So why isn't it used more often? If y'all have any thoughts I'd be happy to hear them! :3

Where did Jared and Jenson go?

I just thought about this and I'd like y'all's opinion on this.

So in season 6 episode 15 "the French mistake" Sam and Dean are transported to the real world by the angel Balthazar, and they take on the roles of their respective actors while still being Sam and Dean Winchester, but if Sam and Dean were in the real world where do Jenson and Jared go? Did they cease to exist until Sam and Dean went back to their world or did they get transported to the supernatural world?
