Need advice, which bank to choose to receive yen via SWIFT
Hola warga r/finansial,
Need some advice & opinions regarding the best bank for receiving foreign income.
So at the end of this year, gw bakal mulai (second) remote job & dapet recurring monthly salary around 130k JPY. Problemnya, my employer doesn't support Wise, only SWIFT / international wire transfer only.
After checking out BCA Pocket Valas, DBS, and OCBC (Nyala Valas), gw lumayan tertarik buat buka akun OCBC.
For quick context, setup rekening gw sekarang:
- Mandiri : Dipakai buat main payroll.
- BNI : Dipakai buat daily spending, tapi ada plan mau ditutup misal nanti fix buka OCBC biar nggak kebanyakan rekening & tetep hemat admin fee.
But before opening account, mau minta pencerahan/experience temen-temen yang udah biasa terima valas dari luar:
- OCBC Nyala Valas & Hidden Fees:
- Is there any hidden fee outside their Nyala / FIT Tier for incoming JPY transfers?
- Compliance & Documentation for First-Timers:
- Since this is my first time receiving money from abroad, does the bank (especially OCBC) usually ask for proof of income (payslip / contract / invoice) for every single transaction, or is it just a one-time check at the beginning?
- Account Strategy (BNI vs OCBC vs Mandiri):
- Is it a good idea to close my BNI account and shift daily spending to OCBC/Mandiri? Or better tetep dipisah aja (rekening penampung foreign transfer dipisahkan dari spending account)?
Any insights, tips would be super appreciated!
Thanks in advance!
