Hi guys. I’ve been away for nearly two months, I know.
First of all, I’m sorry.
Magic Pie FS Rethink was due to be released on 7 August, but I got the timing wrong on YouTube and it’ll be released tomorrow at 7.00 pm (UK time).
Secondly, I’ve had to go back to the mastering stage again as there were things about the previous versions that I wasn’t happy with. I’ve managed to make the tracks sound even more cohesive and with a clearer sound on both high-end equipment and mono speakers. The problem with having a high dynamic range is that not all equipment processes it with the same intensity (one of the reasons why producers mix with ranges of 6 or 7 units).
Thirdly, I haven’t been able to work on ‘Stand By Me FS Rethink’ yet, as I’ve been in hospital for several days looking after someone, and that person’s health isn’t looking too good, so I didn’t want to work on a song that’s specifically about one person asking another to stay. However, I’ll be getting back to this track next week, as it’s one of my favourite songs.
Finally, I wanted to thank you all, as My Big Mouth FS Rethink has been even more successful than DYKWIM!! 400 views in just two months on YouTube. That’s crazy for such a small niche!
See you tomorrow for the premiere of Magic Pie :)
This song was the complete opposite of ‘DYWIM’ to edit.
First of all, I had to do something about that wall of guitars, so I placed that mix behind Liam and the drums in such a way that everything now sounds much clearer.
I also discovered a second vocal track with Liam! I wasn’t expecting this, but there’s a second vocal track behind the lead vocal providing harmonies that sound brilliant! I’d even go so far as to say that Noel is backing Liam in certain parts. Alan White gave a masterclass on the drums, showing that the song had great dynamics which, in the end, felt smothered by so many layers of guitar.
I also want to share the link to the first two songs and Magic Pie, which I recently finished editing and will also be on YouTube soon :)

change the "+" to a .
I hope you like it :)
PD: USE HEADPHONES or better, listen the song in speakers, if you use your phone speaker you don't gonna hear the biggest differences. For all audiophiles: this version has a decent DR9, but unlike pressed formats like vinyl which have more range so the needle doesn't skip, this one has a composite of the treatment I gave the song making it sound more modern and not compressed like 1997 & 2016 version.
Thank you!
The photo depicts what could have been the original cover of Be Here Now that Noel and the photographer had in mind, if the film hadn't been underexposed.
I added my handwriting to the title, and the white background reminds me a lot of the cover of "With The Beatles," an interesting nod considering that for this album, Noel wanted everything to sound gigantic in the midst of "Oasismania." See you tomorrow for the My Big Mouth release!!!
¡Hola! Hace rato que vengo pensando cuál portada elegir para "Be Here Now (30 years on)", mi álbum de relectura.
Excelente inicio de semana 🤙🖐️
Hi! It's me again. 🖐️
As part of the rethinks I'm doing for Be Here Now, I wanted to share the folder that already contains the first two finished songs: D'You Know What I Mean and My Big Mouth. 🔗 👇
As I upload new tracks, I'll update the folder.
The goal? To get your feedback and for you to have a new version of the album (and why not? your favorite).
The cover art is still provisional; I wasn't happy with the one I used on YouTube 🤣 so I'll think about which one I'll use in the future. I hope you like it. 🤙
[SPOILER ALERT: LONG TEXT]
Hi everyone! I have an update on the rethink I'm doing for Be Here Now! Yesterday I finished editing My Big Mouth, and wow, it was a song from which I was able to extract quite a bit of material despite being a wall of guitars! 😅
However, I ran into a problem: the mix composition is quite different from DYWIM, so I had to rework the song, remixing it (and I'm not exaggerating) about 10 times to find the right balance. The thing is, when I listened to My Big Mouth on my monitors, it felt wider and more "three-dimensional." DYWIM, on the other hand, had lost that feeling because I focused too much on the song's punch rather than the effect on the soundscape, something I didn't notice on my IEMs.
The new versions of DYWIM and MBM will be available tomorrow, and I'll share the link in the comments. I'll also upload it to YouTube on June 17th.
Something else that happened while editing MBM, especially, is that I realized that "cleaning up" Be Here Now in the strictest sense goes against the album's DNA, and I understand Noel's reluctance to continue with his rethinks.
I experienced this firsthand during the remixing process: if you remove elements, you lose the vision (in my opinion), so these rethinks won't aim to sound modern from now on. On the contrary, I want them to "roar" 🦁 🔥 in the healthiest way possible, and I think I've achieved that.
Look at those RMS and DR values. To give you an idea, the original 1997 versions and Chasing the Sun from 2016 are around DR4 or DR5. Lower DR = more compressed and crushed sound. I got DR9 and DR10, and I was pleasantly surprised by MBM, considering the song is a distortion monster.
I hope you can take a few minutes to listen to them and share your thoughts, although I don't plan on releasing DYWIM for a long time. Frankly, I'm completely fed up with the song after listening to it about 200 times (no joke). This afternoon (here in Mexico), I'll start working on Magic Pie, so it'll all be for listening to my favorite album the way it was meant to be. Cheers. 👏🤠
Hey guys. I think this version, from the 2003 WTSMG SACD release, is rarely mentioned. It's the DSD64 edition. Unlike the 5.1 version, this one is completely stereo and has a cleaner sound than the 1995 album. Since it was transferred directly from the final masters, it has a lot more detail and is much smoother than the CD. I was pleasantly surprised because it retains analog noises like hiss, but it's a real improvement over the compressed and noisy sound we're used to. I highly recommend listening to it, as it has that raw, unadulterated sound, but you'll need plugins on your PC or specific software, or failing that, a DAP, like in my case, since I'm listening to it through my Hidizs APX80 Pro X. Cheers!
What is this? Surprise!!
I’ve decided to work on the album "Be Here Now" The story behind this album and its dense production is well known—it became the album with the most copies in secondhand stores across the UK just one week after its release.
Noel Gallagher decided to turn it into a compact mass of sound, yet it remains his most brilliant production to date in terms of rock music. This is not a remaster in the full sense of the word. I’ve worked from the very core of the sounds to rescue the hidden dynamics in this song, for a project I’ll call “Be Here Now (30 years on) [FS’s 2027 Rethink],” in which I’ll work with all the songs from the original album (and a few surprises along the way) to give this record the place it deserves in history.
First and foremost, this work is thanks to Noel Gallagher and Owen Morris, and I do not claim any producer credits. This is done out of the immense love I have for this album, and I want to clarify that it is also the way I personally believe this album should have been (hence the name Rethink*). The entire album is set to be released in 2027; however, the excitement of sharing this with you has prompted me to upload this great song as a preview, to which I dedicated more than four days of editing to deliver something decent that honors the work done by the Gallagher brothers and their incredible band.
What did you think? I hope you like it :)
P.S.: I’ve also redesigned the cover, and in line with my vision, it evokes nostalgia for an era that no longer exists, but one that can be relived time and again, as its legacy in the history of the United Kingdom and the world is undeniable.
Enjoy: D'You Know What I Mean? [FS's 2027 Rethink]
I'll be chatting with you in the comments!! 😌
