How often do you have a client reach out via email and abruptly end sessions with you and state that it's because they don't feel they're benefitting from therapy with you? Either because of your approach, your timeliness, lack of homework, etc.
I've had two since September. I have severe rejection sensitivity due to being neurodivergent, so I have a rule that I don't respond to those emails immediately so that I can get some mental space to see them clearly.
The first one this year, I thanked her and encouraged her for advocating for herself. This one feels different - this time, I feel like the client could benefit from me being more directive, and I feel like I could change my approach and that it would be helpful. How do I offer the client a chance to discuss further without being pushy or desperate?
