Best place on LI/NYC to sell

I am in the middle of a horrific divorce. Luckily, through IVF, it was worth it for my two children. However, my ex is doing everything in his power to cut off all financial access to them (He’s an attorney, his father is an attorney, his mother has her JD…blah blah boring backstory that no one wants to know.)

I am well aware that diamonds are NOT an investment, and that I will not get nearly the amount paid for my ring/nor the inflated appraised value for insurance.

It is just sitting in the box, though, and I’d love to get some money to help pay for some of my children’s expenses. Every little bit helps…so I’m looking to see if anyone knows where I can get the most bang for my buck so to speak, even if it’s a little bang, haha.

I have my GIA, paperwork from Blue Nile as well as the jeweler who created my setting. I wound up changing the original setting to plain platinum after my daughter was born, so I do have the platinum setting as well that I wouldn’t mind settling.

I’m on Long Island, Eastern Nassau, but I’m debating on going into the city with my dad to the Diamond District, or any place that anyone he can recommend to me. I’d appreciate it tremendously.

It’s an elongated cushion modified brilliant cut (I know, not as sought after) with decent specs. 1.9 carats, VVS1 clarity, zero florescence, Very Good symmetry, but I don’t see a cut grade on it? It’s set in a plain platinum pronged cathedral setting.

Is it worth a trip to the city? If I head out to the Diamond District, any tips or suggestions I should know about? I’d really appreciate it. Please ignore my nails in this photo; both my kids were IVF, and I had them only 18 months apart. This was deep into my two under two era with a husband who was absent. Self care was not a priority, more like survival, haha. Thank you so much in advance.
