Zanjeerain is a feast for historical romance readers.

I guess I'm now banned from the other sub ( posting on a non-airing day) 👀 so here we go.

There are many parallels between Sarbuland and many men found in historical romance novels. He isn't flawless, all powerful or have superhuman qualities. He isn't super tall and muscular, or full of toxic masculinity.

He is intelligent and respects women. He is actual Sardar material because he thinks deeply and strategises. We rarely expect to see any kind of crazy emotional outbursts from him, but we can feel the strong undercurrent, convictions and strength within. He's the archetypical anti Danish Taimoor hero. He's stoic and reserved, completely rational but not unfeeling.

It's been quite sometime since we've seen a character like this in a drama. The last one I can remember is Zahid Ahmed in Pukaar. That drama was low on the romance and tension but the character left a deep impression and I loved Yumna and Zahid together. Weirdly enough that relationship was far more controversial than Sarbuland-Rabiya but I doubt there was as much outrage from some viewers. I feel like the romance trajectory between Sarbuland and Rabiya has already been watered down for PTV.

Women don't want to see characters like Ranbir from animal. This is a hero written by women for women.

Rabiya is a strong character and Sajal's acting is incredible. I feel the pain that she is going through acutely. I'm really looking forward to the return of knife wielding Rabiya with all of the attitude.

Tha haveli setting makes some of the crazier less logical aspects feel more palatable. I can really suspend my disbelief regarding the lack of police intervention. Whenever they step foot in the haveli we are in the year 1925 in my head.

Zanjeerain is one long therapy session for Rabiya and Sarbuland. I want to see a happy, healthy Rabiya living life to the fullest at the end of this show hand in hand with a less stressed out Sarbuland with low cholesterol and controlled BP (thanks to Rabiya's herbal medicines ofc).

Sarbuland is my Pakistani Mr.Knightley and Rabiya is a hybrid of many characters.

Craziest arguments people have put forward to sink the Sarbiya ship

I'll go first

  1. INCEST (Sarbuland and Rabiya getting married would be incest)??? This was truly an unhinged take. Sarbuland and Rabiya are as dear uncle Sohrab put it not mehram?
  2. She should be a restaurant/clinic owner - She can marry Sarbuland and run a clinic??
  3. Morally wrong and eroding society's values - people that can't separate real life and fiction. This drama is so much less toxic than anything Danish Taimoor stars in, so how can anyone be this outraged? 100 shades of misogyny and toxic masculinity are fine, but god forbid we have a non-toxic, intelligent and empathetic male lead.

My observation is that there are a lot of people that hate Sajal and I don't understand why. Why does the other drama sub hate her SO MUCH. They use all this reasoning but the actual reason is they don't want the ship to sail because the ship might make the drama incredibly popular. I wasn't a Sajal fan before this btw.

There's that one girl who is always hating on the ship on twitter and has finally started making Sarbano edits and I believe that she's a real Sahar Hashmi fan. I admire her dedication. Other than her crazy takes on twitter which I find highly entertaining, I feel like all of this Bano sympathy is very disproportionate and disingenuous.

Ultimately the SarBano ship is doomed also because she's Sohrabs sister. I am also confident that the Sarbiya ship will ultimately sail, because Danny is the captain of the Sarbiya ship.
