Wanted to share this piece because it’s probably one of the more unique old mine pear designs we’ve done recently. 💍

Center stone is a 2.79CT pear-shaped old mine cut lab diamond set in 14K yellow gold with black rhodium detailing. The contrast between the warm gold and dark accents gives it a very moody vintage feel in person.

It’s a 9×12 emerald-cut lab-grown emerald set in 14K yellow gold, with old European cut style lab-grown diamonds on the sides. The green is super rich and vibrant—very “Colombian” looking, but with better clarity than most natural stones I’ve seen.

The vintage-style diamond accents give it a softer sparkle, which balances the bold center stone really nicely. It feels elegant but still wearable day-to-day.

Since emerald is May’s birthstone, it also made me think—this could actually be such a meaningful Mother’s Day gift or a birthday piece for anyone born this month.

Comparing two cushion diamonds of equal carat weight — Old Mine Cut vs Old European Cut.

Specs:

• OMC — 8.99 × 8.03 × 5.09 mm, F–G color, VS clarity

• OEC — 9.0 × 7.41 × 5.1 mm, G color, SI1 clarity

On paper they’re pretty close, but in person they feel surprisingly different.

The OMC has chunkier facets and a slightly squarish outline — very antique, a bit softer and more “romantic” in how it reflects light. The OEC reads more elongated here, with tighter symmetry and a brighter, more lively sparkle.

I tried pairing both with a few different settings, and it’s kind of wild how much the overall look changes depending on the combo.
