My ramblings about new Pyro
Been seeing a lot of people talk about Pyro's new videos and his main channel content as of late. Just wanted to put in my two cents.
Gonna be honest, I just like hearing him yap. Idgf about the actual substance as long as if it's long enough for me to take a nap to or listen to while I play a game.
Only videos I really cared for were Cruelty Squad, Cry of Fear, Entropy Zero, and Darkwood (mainly because I knew those games would be ones I'd want to try) along with Utopia.
And while I get why some people don't like his newer videos as much as his old ones, i understand why he's made this shift. He wants to evolve his presentation in order to stay ahead of the curve. A lot of reviewers don't buy build entire sets and use full costumes for their analysis of games, but Pyro does because he potentially wants to make his reviews stand out.
The only problem I feel has begun to grow with A LOT of fans is that the videos are becoming too long. A lot of repeating points, tangents, and other such things (which I personally love to hear the funny lesbian talk about bullshit but to each their own).
For example, channels like Boofcan or TotallyPointlessTV make similar videos to Pyro's reviews on a far lower budget but I pay much more attention to them, not because they're shorter, but because it's not just 'blah blah blah mechanic blah blah blah lore blah blah blah'. They add in notes about the sound designs, soundtrack, and game production, nearly every thing discussed is an interesting tidbit of info and not just rambles.
While they aren't interviewing game developers personally which Pyro has done (which should definitely be commended for going out your way to travel and meet the game devs in person), I feel as if people find those other reviews easier to digest because they don't linger. There's no rambles or repeated points, or there's very little compared to Pyro's reviews.
At the end of the day, Pyro makes next to nothing from these kind of videos because of how much money he sinks into them. Why does he keep on making them? Either he feels genuinely passionate about the topics and games he talks about, or he just does it to meet quotas.
Just my thoughts and what do I know? I don't make YouTube videos because I have a real job (UwU)
TLDR: forget petscop 2, I want far cry 2 and a main channel postal franchise analysis
