I made a cooler, darker Thirst Trap

Based on the request post that u/purple_creme5450 made the other day asking how to make Thirst Trap cooler toned and darker, I decided to do some frankenpolish experiments.

First pic: the result in direct bright sun.

2nd pic: in my bathroom light with flash.

3rd pic: frankenpolish next to original thirst trap in my bathroom.

In the sun it looks more pinky red, and inside it looks more dark classic red.

What I did: I had a half empty bottle of thirst trap. I added a small pour of devil’s advocate (maybe around 30 drops), about 10 drops of Silent Night blue crelly, and about 10 drops of a cirque black jelly. If you didn’t have Cirque, you might be able to use a holo taco with a black jelly base like Waste of Space, but you’d get some of those iridescent flakies in it. You could also experiment with Just Vamping.

Overall it still gives the same metallic microflake finish, but the original pigment coverage is broken up ever so slightly. I only did 2 coats. With 3 coats it might not be apparent at all. But unless I’m looking at my nails up close, the overall metallic effect is the same.

I’ve been wanting more reds from Holo Taco and I am very happy with this result. I’m glad the other redditor asked this question, because I wanted the same variation on Thirst Trap.

I might try this again with the other metallic microflake finishes to see what other fun variations we can get. Esp purple or magenta - since that’s currently a gap in the metallic microflake rainbow. The lime green we are getting tomorrow will help fill it out too.

If anyone has any other experiment requests, let me know! I may not get to all of them but I love mixing polish and making a version that works for me. I have most of the Holo Taco collection (at least what was sold since Safiya) to work with for experiments.

Also, if anyone is interested in mixing their own polish, check out r/frankenpolish where we get up to fun mixing experiments and/or DIY polish with raw pigments.

P.S. please don’t mind the less than perfect application.
