[KCRW] South Pasadena drops Flock – but not AI street cameras

On the list of most-hated tech, Flock Safety’s automated license plate readers are pretty high up there. The sleek AI-powered cameras top poles on busy roads, logging the location and license plate of every car passing by.

South Pasadena was one of many communities across the US that came out against the technology in the past year. Now, the City Council is considering contracting with other automatic license plate reader systems — to the outrage of some residents.

At a recent city council meeting, local Sam Gurley put it plainly: "South Pasadena should not respond to their concerns about Flock by simply signing with another company that isn't currently under the same spotlight."

Misconduct to Keeper (distraction)

I was an AR for this game, so it wasn’t my call, but the center called for a PK and the keeper (this huge bear of a guy (adult league)) went up to the kicker and insisted that he shake his hand for luck.

I was talking under my breath “don’t do it - it’s a card” as the Referee could (maybe should) give a card for unfairly distracting the kicker (if I was center, I would have - however this center didn’t).

Thoughts? Overly sensitive to this type of engagement or let it go?

*EDIT - changed ‘chase’ to ‘shake’ his hand. Thank you autocorrect….
