What PDF software problem creates the most tickets?

For IT/admin folks: what PDF-related issue do users keep bringing back no matter how many times it gets “fixed”?

Printing? Forms? Default app settings? Signatures? Huge files? Plugins? Updates? Something breaking after a new version?

PDFs feel boring until they become everyone’s problem at once.

What makes a PDF app feel bloated?

People call PDF apps bloated all the time, but curious what makes something feel bloated in day-to-day use. Is it slow startup, random background processes, too many toolbars, popups, updates, AI features getting pushed into basic reading, or just the app trying to do way more than you opened it for?

Where’s the line for you between “useful features” and “why is this thing doing so much”?

What document task always turns into a bigger project than it should?

Keep seeing people run into the same basic PDF problems, and it’s kind of wild how many of them still feel stuck in 2010. Not even advanced stuff, just filling out forms, adding a signature, combining a few files, compressing something without destroying it, or trying to edit text without the whole layout falling apart.

What’s the one PDF thing that still makes you think, “why is this still like this?”

What’s the most annoying document workflow you’ve had to deal with?

Curious what people here have seen in the wild.

Could be printing just to sign something, scanning things back in, chasing the “final” version, combining a bunch of files manually, whatever.

What’s the workflow that made you think, “there has to be a better way to do this”?

Quick note on signatures: placed signatures vs eSign workflows

A couple people mentioned that signing PDFs can feel like too many clicks, so it may help to separate two different use cases.

Sometimes you just need to place your own saved signature on a PDF. Other times, you need a full eSignature workflow where someone else receives, signs, and returns the document.

Those are different jobs, and mixing them up can make the process feel more complicated than it needs to be.

For people who sign PDFs often, where does the process usually slow down: creating the signature, placing it, sending it, or finalizing the file?

What makes a PDF workflow feel clunky?

A few themes came up from the last thread:

  • Mobile OCR needs to feel quicker and easier when scanning multiple pages
  • Signature placement can feel like too many clicks
  • Some print-to-PDF settings can be hard to find when you need them

So let’s go one level deeper.

When a PDF task feels annoying, what’s usually the reason?

Too many clicks?
Hard-to-find settings?
Slow tools?
Confusing labels?
Different experience on mobile vs desktop?
Something else?

What PDF task still takes way longer than it should?

Real question: what’s the one PDF or document task that still feels way more annoying than it needs to be?

Redaction? OCR? Signatures? Forms? Combining files? Version chaos? Trying to find the final file?

We’re listening (Bonus points for the most cursed workflow).
