Tomodachi Life Tree Tutorial in Pallet
This is a tutorial for making trees in the Pallet House on Nintendo switch to beautify your island! I made this tutorial since people seemed to really like the trees I posted when I showed my island here.
Open the workshop and pick "new creation"
Then pick "Objects"
Then pick "Upright board"
- Select "blank base"
Make sure your tools are set to Pro mode!
Pick the stamp icon and select something green to start out your tree's canopy! For this example I'm using the lettuce leaf. You can use the controls to make the stamp bigger or smaller (R joystick), rotate it (L & R), and so forth. The controls are shown in the lower right corner of the screen.
- For this tutorial we want to make a big green clump to represent the tree canopy, so we're going to make the lettuce leaf smaller than the default, and we're going to rotate it, and then we're going to stamp the same leaf over and over to create a full canopy. To copy the leaf over and over exactly as it is, press +. Use ZR to toggle whether the new stamp is in the foreground of your image or the background.
- Now we stamp the leaf over and over, rotating it a little each time so we can get a nice domed appearance on the canopy. Make sure to use lots of vertical space on the grid, so that you can make your tree as big as possible at the end (if you want to)
- Now we're going to make the tree trunk. Bring in a new stamp that has a brown texture. I'm using the donut here, but I've also done this with pretzels or bread. We're going to select a rectangle of donut texture, rotate it, and use that as our tree trunk and branches.
- We're squishing the donut way down so that it fits on the screen and doesn't overlap with the canopy we just made. You could press ZR to put it in the background, but then there would be lots of cleanup to do later with the eraser tool. After shrinking the donut I also pushed it mostly out of the screen. Then I used the area select tool to pull the piece of donut into the middle of the screen and pressed ZR to put it in the background. Once you drop your trunk, you can erase the rest of the donut.
- You can see that the trunk doesn't look like it extends all the way down to the ground, so we're going to select another piece of the donut trunk, press + to copy it, and then drag and drop it at the bottom where the gaps are.
- Repeat this process of selecting, copying, rotating and shrinking to make more branches if you want them! Then add more leaves on top of the branches so that you don't have stumpy ends sticking out.
- That's it! Name your tree and pick how large you want it to be. You can always select an existing creation from the stamp options and make a new creation that is larger or smaller using your previous work.
Have fun!!
