I have this GLoomis NRX that I got from a friend for free as the finish was flaking in places and had a few broken guides, I’ve fixed the guides but looking for input on how to mediate the flaking.
I have only built freshwater rigs but looking to build an “all purpose” as possible for inshore fishing on my travels, preferably 2 piece, thoughts are light enough for smaller reds and speck but heavy enough where I’m not totally screwed if I hit a good sized tarpon or striped bass.
Not new to fishing by any means, however new to catching carp/koi, i have about a 1/4 acre pond at a new property i just moved into and there’s tons of bass, cats, bluegill, but there is probably 15 koi as well i want to get rid of them so they don’t suck up the bass eggs and ruin the future generations.
Any tips/tricks greatly appreciated.
I’m very aware that this is not the “right way” to do things but working with what I have. I have a Revo Toro beast baitcaster paired with a 8’6 heavy fast travel rod I built used for lobbing 1-3 oz glide baits inshore fishing, personally i can throw this further than what I’ve done surf fishing with a cheap spinning surf combo around the same weight. But have never tried the baitcaster in the surf. Has anyone tried something similar? If so any tips/tricks are appreciated.
