Walking around Rome with a camera?

I’ll be visiting Rome solo in November and plan on bringing my camera for street and architecture photography.

For photographers who live in Rome or have visited recently, do you normally feel comfortable walking around with a camera on a neck or crossbody camera strap?

I’m less concerned about phones/wallets as ill be wearing a front crossbody bag and more specifically wondering about a camera. I’d like to have the camera accessible while walking around rather than constantly putting it back into my bag.

Would you recommend a neck strap, crossbody camera strap, or keeping the camera concealed when walking between locations?

Thanks!

Best budget-friendly option for Alaska cruise?

Hey everyone! I’m going on an Alaskan cruise in about 2 weeks and want to get decent photos of wildlife and scenery without spending a fortune or carrying a massive setup everywhere.

I mainly want to photograph whales, eagles, bears if we spot any on excursions, glaciers, mountains, and general scenery from the ship. I currently have an Apple iPhone 16 Pro Max, so I already have a pretty capable phone camera, but I know wildlife photography at a distance is where phones usually struggle.

I’m trying to figure out what would actually be the best value option between getting a telephoto attachment lens for the iPhone, buying a DSLR or mirrorless camera with a zoom lens, getting one of those superzoom/bridge cameras, or maybe something else I haven’t considered.

I’m definitely not a professional photographer. I just want noticeably better photos than my phone alone can get, especially for wildlife, without spending a ton of money or carrying around a huge complicated setup. I’d like to keep things relatively budget friendly and travel light if possible.

For people who’ve done Alaska cruises before, what setup gave you the best balance of image quality, zoom capability, price, and convenience? Are the clip on telephoto lenses for phones actually worth it, or would I regret not getting a dedicated camera? I’ve also heard bridge/superzoom cameras might be the sweet spot for trips like this, but I’m not sure how they compare in real world use.
