how do you actually break the ice in a discord server?
ok so maybe this is a me problem but how do you get new ppl to talk first?? running a small art/illustration server, like 230 members, most came from a few twitch raids and an art discord listing. the regulars (maybe 6 of us) chat fine but anyone who joins just lurks. they react, they post in the gallery channel, but they NEVER start a convo. and the second the core group goes quiet for a day the whole place is a ghost town. i've done intro prompts, "art of the week", pinned icebreaker questions, even a welcome bot that pings new joins with a question. nothing sticks past the first message. feels like im the only one carrying it and tbh im running out of energy lol. is lurking just normal at this size or is there an actual fix?? what worked for you guys
