Some Perspective Is Needed On Filling Out This Roster

There is a lot of angst here. And it is justified because our QB is coming off a major injury and we finished 6-11. A lot of that angst is directed towards a roster that lacks talent. And justifiably so. Basically, the roster was not good heading into the offseason.

Going into this offseason we had holes at RB, RT, WR, TE, CB, DT, EDGE. I include TE and DT because Jones and Kelce are nearing the end. We ended up filling RB in Free Agency with Kenneth Walker. And we shored up CB and DT in the draft. Even if Delane and Woods hit we still have holes at RT, WR, TE, EDGE.

I say all this to say that this situation could not be fixed with 1 offseason. This is a 2 year retooling. The roster had depleted to the point that it could not all be fixed with 1 offseason.

The root cause of all this is the disaster class drafts of 2023 and 2024. Two absolutely brutal drafts back to back is soul crushing for an NFL team. We started turning it around in 2025 with Simmons and Nohl Williams. Now, we need to keep it going.

This is the reality of whiffing badly on 2 consecutive drafts.
