Who else pays BBC license and only occasionally watch TV?

So I pay the TV license, but I feel I don't make the most out of watching TV.

Off top of my head, in the last year, I have only watched the World Cup, episodes of Doctor Who. I used to watch Holby City, but now they cancelled it. I also used to watch Casualty, but it gets a bit boring. Oh yes, I occasionally watch David Attenborough.

These days I watch a lot of YouTube videos - I tend to watch the ones about politics, science and technology.

What I love about the BBC is BBC News - the website. I tend to go on their website quite often. I do trust BBC a lot, and I believe in paying for a neutral public service I trust.

Anyway, I often tell people I pay for TV license, but I don't really watch TV. I am interested in changing that. What do people recommend me to watch?

I have no intention not to pay my TV license, so even if people here don't manage to come up with a recommendation that I like, I will still pay for TV license - I want the neutral political coverage.

Edit: I also enjoyed the Cunk series. I watched a few episodes of Race Across The World, I liked it. I also like the old Top Gears special episodes (not the normal episodes).

Went for a meal in a restaurant, both my friend and I thought the lighting situation was not adequate.

OMSCS after a CS undergraduate degree and a CS PhD

Are there anybody doing OMSCS just for fun?

I did a CS undergraduate degree and a CS PhD in two British universities. Sometimes I look at the US curriculum, I just feel the British curriculum is lacking in rigour. There are areas of CS which I want to explore, and I never really had the opportunity - I like having a forum / community where I can discuss things.

My PhD was in image processing / computer vision. But I have a wide range of interest - I want to explore network, OS and NLP. I am just wondering if it would be fun and worthwhile to sign up to OMSCS, so I could experience a US degree and learn more things.

I am currently a software engineer.

Testing Wurkkos HD20 as a powerbank using DL24

I have an Atorch DL24 dummy load, which can be used to measure capacity of the batteries. I hooked it up to my Wurrkos HD20 using a USB-C cable and a KWS-X1 trigger board, and tested the behaviour of HD20 as a powerbank with different 21700 batteries. I set DL24 to constant current discharge mode. Here are some results.

At 2A:

  • Vapcell F66: 2638 mAH / 12.60 Wh
  • Molicell P50B: 2437 mAH / 11.65 Wh
  • BAK 65E: 3022 mAH / 14.62Wh

At 1A:

  • Vapcell F66: 3388 mAH / 16.79 Wh
  • Molicell P50B: 2773 mAH / 13.67 Wh

I couldn't be bothered measure BAK 65E under 1A discharge. So yeh, I guess the conclusion is that the CDR of the battery matters. Vapcell F66 is rated to have 6600 mAH, but in practice it performed worse than BAK 65E due to its internal resistance under high load.

But anyway, are BAK 65E and Molicell M65A the best 21700 cells that I can get? I got my BAK 65E when I ordered my flashlight with Convoy.

I haven't looked into how to get my hands on Molicell M65A. I am based in the UK. I am not sure if I want more battery anyway, I have more batteries than I need.

I only intend to use my flashlight as a last resort powerbank - for when I forget to bring my powerbank.

The best 21700 battery for powerbank use?

If I want to use my 21700 flashlight as a powerbank, which battery is the best for it?

Wurkkos HD20 is probably the best powerbank 21700 flashlight

When connecting my Wurkkos HD20 to my USB-C tester, it shows 3 different modes:

  1. 5V 2.40A 12.00W
  2. 9V 2.00A 18.00W
  3. 12.00V 1.50A 18.00W

My other 21700 flashlights don't show any selection at all. I have tested:

  • Wuben L1
  • Sofirn IF23 Pro
  • Skilhunt EC300

What is your favourite backpack light?

What is everyone's favourite backpack light? Mine was / is a Sofirn IF23 Pro. However I am getting a Wurkkos HD20 to replace it. My criteria is that it has to be a 21700 light that can also act as a powerbank, and it should have both flood and throw. Ideally it should be waterproof.

I recently discovered having a headlight is really useful for handsfree operations. I have been putting both a Wurrkos HD10 and a Sofirn IF23 Pro in my backpack. I am hoping that the new Wurrkos HD20 will replace them both.
