Trying to organize, applied to the RCA but curious as to if there are issues with them or if there're any groups that are more reliable, thank you.

My partner and I (we are both transexual, I am intersex as well but as far as I'm aware this is completely unrelated to trans issues within theological contexts) are both genuinely interested in Islam, specifically Islamaili Shia Islam. Is this something that any one here has experience navigating? We have been trying to learn about the faith for around a month and a half now, but I'm personally starting to get nervous about the next steps and actually interacting with anyone within the local community (we live in the south east and it's already rather dismal for us).
